Ceremony at the Ampère Museum

24/10/24

A triple ceremony took place at the Ampère Museum: to officially present Einstein's experiment; to announce 'Tomorrow, an Electric World,' the celebrations planned for 2025 for the 250th anniversary of André-Marie Ampère; and finally, to launch the fundraising campaign with the "Fondation du Patrimoine" (Heritage Foundation) to complete the restoration of the Ampère estate.

In particular, the Ampère Museum hosted the Consuls General of Germany and Switzerland for the official presentation of Einstein's experiment, one of the museum's emblematic objects. Einstein, who held dual German and Swiss nationality, conducted this unique experiment with Wander de Haas in 1915 in Berlin, aiming to demonstrate a theory of André-Marie Ampère.

After the presentation of the Einstein-de Haas experiment, speeches were delivered by Ms. Jessica Engel and Ms. Stéphania Périllard, the Consuls of Germany and Switzerland, respectively, preceded by a speech from Mr. Gabriele Fioni, Regional Delegate for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes academic region, and followed by a speech from Mr. Alfonso San Miguel, President of the Society of Friends of André-Marie Ampère.

Also in attendance were Ms. Karine Lucas, Deputy of the municipality of Couzon-au-Mont-d'Or and Regional Councilor for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Mr. Patrick Leclercq, Vice President of the Society for Electricity, Electronics, and Information and Communication Technologies, Mr. Claude Sordet, Rhône and Lyon Metropolis Delegate of the "Fondation du Patrimoine" , Ms. Delphine Noël, Communication Officer at EDF, the main sponsor of 'Tomorrow, an Electric World,' as well as administrators and volunteers from the Society of Friends of André-Marie Ampère.
